Songwriter and record producer Winston Rileyhas died.
Winston, who is the father of radio DJ Kurt Riley, was in a coma after he was shot in the head and arm in November last year (01.11.11). Winston Riley died at hospital recently (19/01/12).
Winston was plagued with a series of violent attacks. In August last year he was shot and later stabbed 5 times in September.
Winston Riley produced General Echo‘s hugely influentialThe Slackest album in 1979, and he went on to launch the careers of Sister Nancy, Buju Banton, Cutty Ranks, Lone Ranger and Frankie Paul.
