Rumfire Rhythm to debut at Sting

JA-Productions

Rumfire and popular producers JA Productions are looking to give patrons at the upcoming Sting an exclusive treat with the debut of the Rumfire rhythm.

Scheduled for December 26 at Jamworld, Portmore, the ‘greatest one-night reggae show on Earth’, Sting, has this year joined forces with Rumfire as a major sponsor.

Speaking to The WEEKEND STAR yesterday, Christelle Harris, Director of Marketing for Rumfire, explained how the connection between Rumfire, JA Productions and Sting came about. She said, “Justus (Arison) who is one of the person’s behind JA Productions has a very close relationship with the Rumfire family. He was originally going to release his next rhythm next year and he came up with the idea to release it at Sting so that audience would get the first live premiere of it. He then named it the Rumfire rhythm so it all worked out.”

JA Productions is responsible for the popular Overproof rhythm. The rhythm was released in summer and has still been going strong on the airwaves. “Overproof was a huge success and we wanted to be able to give fans an extra treat, so the Rumfire premiere will be an exclusive for Sting audiences,” Harris added.

According to Justus Arison of JA Productions, the first volume of the ‘Rumfire’ rhythm has 12 artistes on it, with more to come. The rhythm will feature the likes of Beenie Man, Elephant Man, Gyptian, KipRich and Mavado who is scheduled to voice on it soon. He said, “Rumfire is very different from Overproof. Overproof was very cutting edge, while Rumfire will take it back to basics and is very hard-core dancehall.”

Following its premiere at Sting, the rhythm will begin its run on radio airwaves. It will also be available on jamaicansmusic.com’s online store.

Outside of the Rumfire premiere, Rumfire will also be giving away samples of Rumfire shots to the first 2,000 patrons. There will also be giveaways of Rumfire calendars, the Rumfire girls will be present onstage throughout the night and Rumfire Overproof White rum will be on sale at the event at a premium price.
