Morgan is reported to be now in police custody after it was alleged that he was found in possession of 25 pounds of Marijuana on Wednesday afternoon in Bronx, New York.

According to an article published in The Daily News , the 66-year-old reggae singer, who fathers the members of Morgan Heritage, was busted when police saw him leaving a Bronx home. His capture also led to the seizure of a 310-pound stash of ganja and the arrest of another man, Wayne Sway, who was also alleged to have been held with 16-pounds of the plant.

Both Morgan and Sway were charged with criminal possession of marijuana. Cops said the 351-pound marijuana seizure has a street value between US$140,000 (JA$12 million) and US $351,000 (JA$30 million).

According to the police, when caught, Morgan, who is popular for his song I Will Do Anything For You, “confessed to cops that he was flush with weed.”

The article also said that the bust was not a sting operation but the result of a eagle-eyed narcotics cops. According to The Daily News source, the narcotics detectives were working on an unrelated case in the vicinity when they claim that they saw Morgan carrying what appeared to be a brick of marijuana in shrink-wrapped packaging.

The detectives later pulled over Morgan’s car and alleged that they noticed a strong marijuana scent coming from the vehicle. His trunk was opened and it is alleged that two bags filled with 25 pounds of the substance was found.

Detectives later returned to the vicinity of the home Morgan was seen leaving and spotted Sway, coming from the building with a large package and getting into a car. It is further alleged that sixteen pounds of marijuana was taken from his car. After obtaining a warrant, the building he was seen leaving was searched and reports are that 310 pounds of the weed was found.

This comes just months after fellow reggae/dancehall artiste Buju Banton was sentenced to 10 years in a Tampa, Florida court for a cocaine-trafficking deal in 2009.
