The album, Reggae Music Again, was released in April with tracks like Come Over, Running From The Law and Kingston Town. However, early last week, news broke that the entertainer had been nabbed by the Fugitive Apprehension Team at the Norman Manley International Airport as he returned from a tour in the Netherlands.
He was arrested on extradition warrant from the United States of America (USA). The deejay waived his right to a local hearing, opting to return to the USA to face a charge of absconding bail.
It was also revealed in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court that Busy had been scheduled to go on trial for conspiracy to possess and distribute cocaine in the USA in 2002 when he absconded bail.
Despite these legal woes, however, Brown says he believes the album will still do well.
“One of the good things about Busy’s album is that it is a reggae album. A reggae album can last for years. Even when Busy is back with us, it will still be relevant,” he told THE STAR.
Before his incarceration, Brown said music videos were shot for songs like Reggae Music Again and Dream, Dream, which is an iTunes bonus track, and Come Over.
abundance of material
In addition, Brown said 27 songs were recorded for the album but only 15 were chosen. He says Busy Signal has also been recording dancehall and reggae songs since the release of the album, so an abundance of material is available for release.
“Busy has a very good team around him, not just me, so we are working to keep him relevant in the market place,” he said, noting that the remix of Kingston Town with Damian Marley was recently released.
“Everybody is embracing it. People are even more supportive now. The leverage that we wanted for the album, I am still looking forward to achieving it. The media locally and abroad are highlighting it, so it makes it even easier. Everybody embrace it and see what the mission and goal is and I give thanks for that.”
Brown says Busy has been coping well with his present incarceration and is grateful for the support he has been receiving.
“Busy is overjoyed by the overwhelming comments and prayers. You can have the best lawyer but without prayer nothing is possible. Him just ready fi deal with this and get it behind him. He is also very confident with his legal team,” Brown told THE STAR.
