“Audiences will be blown away on all nights of the Festival,” said John Gourzong of Summerfest Productions about this year’s staging of Reggae Sumfest.
Romain Virgo and Christopher Martin, hot on the Reggae charts and melting hearts of fans, are both to take the Sumfest stage. With a primary common ground of being former winners of Digicel’s Rising Stars, the two stars are preparing to rock their Sumfest fans on Dancehall Night and International Night Two, respectively.
Romain Virgo rejoins the Sumfest family after his performance at the 2010 staging, and is expected to add his distinct sound and vibe to the electrifying mix. The singer, song-writer has been busy taking the Jamaican music industry by storm, especially through the recent release of his album, The System. The album houses hits such as Who Feels it Knows it, I Know Better and System.
Alongside fellow reggae artiste, Perfect, and the Reggae group Ikronik, Romain Virgo is circling the three states of California, Oregan and Washington on a ten-date tour from Wednesday, June 27 to Monday, July 2.
Meanwhile, Christopher Martin is returning to the Sumfest stage after his 2011 appearance. The artiste has been releasing hit after hit since the beginning of 2012, Paper Loving and Chill Spot after Cheater’s Prayer in 2011. The artiste recently launched his label, ‘Cheeny Big Son’, and is also working on an album, It’s Not the First, It’s Not the Last which is to be released soon.
Martin has been touring the world and has a massive fan base, especially in Africa.
“Based on the plans outlined by both male and female acts, patrons can expect extraordinary performances across the board,” said Gourzong.
The week of activities kicks off with a Beach Party on Sunday, July 15.
The musical celebration will resume on Thursday, July 19 with the steaming Dancehall Night.
Reggae Sumfest is sponsored by Digicel, Red Stripe, Iberostar, Jamaica Tourist Board and Pepsi, and takes place in Montego Bay from July 15 to 21.
